TRUST »Horse Bit Sweet Iron Full Cheek French Link double jointed 1.6 cm
The French Link Full Cheek bit from Trust is made of Sweet Iron, a material composed of iron with a special alloy. When it comes into contact with the horse's saliva, rust forms on the surface, which tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's chewing activity. The cheeks of this bit exert increased pressure on the horse's cheeks, thereby supporting the horse's correct positioning and flexion. An interesting property of the Sweet Iron material is that when it comes into contact with horse saliva, it reacts and the blue discoloration changes to an orange/brown over time; this does not represent a quality defect.
The special feature of this bit is that it cannot be pulled through the mouth due to the full cheeks and the fixed rings, which allows for safe handling. In addition, the design prevents the corners of the mouth from being pinched. The French Link mouthpiece is double-jointed and has a plate in the middle, which exerts even pressure on the tongue. This means the bit lies particularly quietly in the mouth, making it particularly suitable for young or temperamental horses.

Info about ➻ Sweet Iron
- Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have been specially designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This rusty coating has a pleasant sweet taste and stimulates saliva production. These properties contribute to horses readily accepting Sweet Iron bits.
Info about ➻ Full Cheek Bit
- The full cheek bit is a bit that lies quietly and stably in the horse's mouth. It provides lateral support without pinching the horse's skin or lips, as the metal parts are angled. This bit is suitable for horses that need clear lateral support and guidance when turning.
Info about ➻ French Link
- A "French Link" is a special mouthpiece for horse bits. It has two joints instead of the usual single jointed mouthpiece, which can be more comfortable for the horse. It helps reduce pressure on the tongue and allows for gentler communication between rider and horse.
Info about ➻ double jointed
- A double-jointed mouthpiece is quite common. It has two movable parts that function like hinges. This mouthpiece is somewhat rounder and fits a bit looser in the horse's mouth. It exerts pressure on various places in the mouth, such as the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. However, it is not suitable for horses with narrow lower jaws, as the hinges can press on the bars in this case. Compared to a single-jointed mouthpiece, a double-jointed mouthpiece creates more pressure on the tongue.
