The sides should lie about one centimeter closer to the corner of the mouth compared to the loose ring snaffle. The olive head prevents the corners of the mouth from being pinched in the rings. The horse cannot push the bit up with its tongue, so the mouthpiece lies more quietly in the mouth and is somewhat more stabilized laterally. Since the ring does not rotate, there is a minimally more direct action with a slight effect on the poll. However, the difference to the loose ring snaffle is not noticeable for the horse or for most riders.
