TRUST »Horse Bit Sweet Iron Fulmer Snaffle single jointed 1.6 cm
A Baby Pelham is a versatile bridle combination that combines the functions of a snaffle and a curb bit. It can be ridden with either one or two reins, making it particularly suitable for riders and horses who want to get used to using a curb bit. If used with only one rein, Pelham rounding straps are required to connect the bit rings to the shank rings. These straps are not included.
The mouthpiece of the Baby Pelham is single-jointed and made of a Sweet Iron alloy. It primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue. The Sweet Iron alloy naturally promotes salivation as it oxidizes on contact with moisture, forming a pleasant-tasting, slightly rusted surface for horses. Compared to a curb bridle, using a Pelham is significantly simpler as it only has one mouthpiece.

Info about ➻ Sweet Iron
- Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have been specially designed to develop surface rust on contact with air and moisture. This rusty coating has a pleasantly sweet taste and stimulates saliva production. These properties contribute to horses readily accepting Sweet Iron bits.
Info about ➻ Fulmer Snaffle
- The Fulmer snaffle rests calmly and steadily in the horse's mouth. It offers reliable lateral guidance without the risk of skin and lips being pinched by the angled cheekpieces. This snaffle model is well-suited for horses that need clear lateral support and steering when turning.
Info about ➻ single jointed
- A single-jointed bit has a single hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue compared to a double-jointed mouthpiece. The single-jointed mouthpiece primarily creates pressure on the bars and the lateral areas of the tongue and can also affect the palate. It is undoubtedly one of the most frequently used mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed mouthpiece.
